At Huie Elementary, we are committed to excellence, growth, and community. As we complete another incredible school year, we are proud to highlight five key areas that showcase who we are and what we value most. These Points of Pride reflect our dedication to student achievement, fostering stakeholder relationships,, and a nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

1st Point of Pride: Strong Community Partnerships

Initiative/Recognition:
Huie Elementary proudly partnered with district leaders, community stakeholders, and local, state, and national officials who invested in our students’ success, health, and achievement by generously donating time and resources.

Impact:
Students began the year fully equipped with donated school supplies from multiple community partners. Throughout the year, leaders from the community visited to read with students, provide awards and recognition, and even gift electronic devices to support literacy and academic growth.

2nd Point of Pride: Instructional Focus and Family Engagement

Initiative/Recognition:
We hosted engaging, content-rich events designed to provide students and families with academic resources and strategies for success.

Impact:
Events like Math Fright Night and Lights, Camera, Action Literacy Night offered fun, interactive learning experiences. Parents, students, and staff connected through games and discussions that helped identify and support students’ academic needs and goals.

3rd Point of Pride: Schoolwide Literacy Initiatives

Initiative/Recognition:
Huie Elementary emphasized literacy with yearlong reading events aimed at cultivating a love for reading and improving access to books.

Impact:
Students participated in two book fairs, enjoyed read-alouds from district leaders and government officials, and took part in multiple reading challenges. These events sparked healthy competition, with students receiving recognition, praise, and prizes for their efforts.

4th Point of Pride: College and Career Readiness

Initiative/Recognition:
Our College and Career Week provided students meaningful exposure to higher education and the workforce through guest speakers and student-led activities.

Impact:
Students engaged with local professionals and college students, exploring various career pathways. During our Entrepreneur Fair, students showcased their creativity, talents, and financial literacy by selling goods and services—demonstrating both initiative and business acumen.

5th Point of Pride: Student Achievement in Competition

Initiative/Recognition:
Huie students proudly represented our school in a variety of academic and athletic competitions throughout the district—and brought home wins.

Impact:
From the Spelling Bee to the Science Olympiad, and from soccer to cheerleading, our students excelled. Our basketball team made the county playoffs for the first time, and 4th grader Cameron Jordan earned recognition as the CCPS Basketball Athlete of the Year. These experiences fostered school pride, confidence, and teamwork among our student competitors.
